The Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone is expected to be unveiled sometime after the Chinese New Year (early February). A new rumor is now mentioning that the Chinese manufacturer is looking to release this highly anticipated flagship in two variants - one with a metal body and the other with a 2.5D curved glass back and front panel.
It is also said that the glass model will pack a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920x1080) display, while the metal variant will apparently feature a display of the same size, but with a higher resolution of 2560x1440. It is also believed that the glass variant will have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage while the more premium version will contain 4GB of RAM and a 64GB storage module underneath.
The glass back panel variant can be likened to devices like the Sony Xperia Z lineup as well as the cult favorite LG Nexus 4. This has an appeal of its own and it could prove to be a wise choice by Xiaomi.
Naturally, the Mi 5 will also come with a fingerprint scanner. To serve this purpose, the handset is expected to be packing a hardware home button on the bottom bezel, similar to Apple and Samsung's implementation.
